Someone has just come out to view my car from Bristol, was a lad with his parents. They liked it found no faults but offered £4800 Was not willing to let it go for that as someone is wanting to come down from Hull at the weekend to pick up the car if it is as good as in the pics for full asking price. I told them this and they said £5000, with deposit now. Why would i wanna loose £400 for waiting a few days for the car to be picked up!

Spent ages cleaning it aswell

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

Never trust the offer of someone until they show you the colour of their money.

Also, never trust anyone who offers to pay the full asking price for a second hand car without any negotiation.

I had mine in for £7.5k had no one view it, dropped it to £7300 then sold to first viewer for £7k, I had other callers asking to keep it for them, they had been looking for ages will give me the full amount blah blah, end of the day, they can and still will walk away, I think you should have taken it!

That lad that came with his parents, did he seem like he was lookin for a first car?

Might be better if he didn't have it if that was the case as you'd be gutted to find out he wrapped it round a lamp post through inexperience or something...

Have to admit it is a good idea to take someone else along...

First rule of used car sales....... Over price the car cos everyone wants a deal so by dropping a couple of hundred will make the customer think they are leading the deal thus getting what they want, whereas your selling the car for what you originally wanted.

Nah mate, hold out for the money you want. I should have done that with my car before I sold it

Seriously though, if you give it time you'll get the price you want. I love your gti and always have...wish I had the cash to insure and buy it. My bro bought those wheels for his 106 just because of how they looked on your mota

I did a similar thing with my corsa & made an extra £175 so hold on if they don t buy return to the original offer of £4800 easy jus be honest with the original buyer he my match the £5000 offer meaning he has priority, it may then turn into a bidding match. Which is good
