think im getting a mk2 mr2 (94> ) for my next car,
anyone on here got one?what you think of it? whats the performance, handling and running costs like?
i test drove a '97 t-bar in purple today, looked lovely but i think the clutch was fucked big time cos after a while it felt slow but the revs were getting really high! did still manage to light the tyres up in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear though!

The turbo's are seriously quick cars but thirsty.

T bar ones are the quick ones i believe..some are a bit slow though.

it was a non turbo, insurance is abit high on them still!
this one seemed quick to start with but at one point i was in 3rd gear and the revs were at about 6k and i was only doing about 40mph!felt like it had been knocked out of gear and i could smell burning!

im looking at MR2's at the mo, i have borrowed an MR2 on a few occasions, and raced a few in my GSI, TBH they are a bit slow unless ya get the Turbo, i love em, the only thing puttin me off is the fact i carnt get me carp fishing gear in it, lol, the Turbo is definately the way to go, just wantch out for the engine coming on boost round a corner in the wet!!!!, i had some great fun in a gravel car park in the one i had, i would say get one if ya can be without boot space etc

How can you possibly be concerned about that? You know the power is controlled by your right foot yeah? If you do not want 240bhp in the middle of a wet roundabout, then don't plant it like its a qtr mile sprint??

Pros:
Tbars are great for posing in in summer
Best driving position ive ever experienced
Give most the hot hatches a good run for there money
Very solid engines....Jap Build quality

Cons:
Nighmare in the wet....can take you by surprise even when going slowish.
Clutches are quite weak...I managed to fry mine trying a james bond stunt
Not much of a boot or room to fit decent ICE
If it snows your walking to work

If there any way you can afford the insurance on a Turbo get 1!

Not a problem in the wet, especially if you have the turbo, and long as you don't have an on/off driving style you can drive very fast in the wet with decent tyres on.
Clutch on the turbo is great, rev to 5K, dump clutch, your gone, simple.
Ice is a problem, I have 7x10's behind the seats and focal componets in the doors, amps in the front mounted to a plate which covers the spare wheel. Kenwood headunit and kenwood EQ. (I'd just like to say that kenwood headunits are shite and don't ever buy one)
I drove mine to and from work in the awful snow last year, was a cracking laugh, the turbo has LSD so provides a lot more drive than the NA.

Basicly the turbo kicks arse.

I dont know too much about the Turbos but I think Rev3/4 are 240BHP and Rev1/2 are abit less???

Newer ones also have better suspension.

Rev3 with low a millage as possible

remember my old man spinning us 360degrees in his old rev3 whilst trying out some new yoko tyres in the wet.

We just looked at each other and laughed like kiddies as he hammered it away again!

amazing cars for the money, and will put alot of newer "performance" cars to shame!!

ive been looking at m1 mr2's recently.

they arent that much to insure either.

i know some one that had a mk1 and he recons it the fastest revving car from tick over to redline he has ever driven. and by that i dont mean whilst its driving i mean in neutral.
