Get a mate/parent etc to drive it home for you. This will require the present owner to tax it (then you pay him/her back)
Also the driver will need insurance.
OR
Get a trailer

You and two mates who can drive. One of them drives you two there.
Other mate drives the car back following you.
Pay the people a lil more for car tax or risk driving back with none.

Hmmm...
Arrange with the person your buying it from to 'store' it for a while...
Take out RAC Breakdown Cover on the car in your name...
Week after the policy with RAC is taken out (or a few days) ring them up & say you've broken down. Arrange for the engine not to work somehow (detach the ECU from the loom - simple enough job)
When the RAC arrive, they'll look over the car, check it, nothing will work. They don't really check ECU's as they can't do a thing with them.
They will say what you want doing, then just say you were on yuor way home when it conked out, they will then arrange for it to be towed/moved to your home address
So for £14.95 you get the car home & job done PLUS the best bit is a month later you can cancel the RAC cover, as its not a 12 month contract

no
I was towed back from bristol when my engine fooked off on me once & didnt charge a penny
plus the other bonus is any car your a passenger in is covered by your policy!
I was on the way to alton towers with a few m8's & the gearbox dropped out I had no cover but a m8 did, they rang the RAC & car was towed home no problems & my friend or myself wasn't charged a penny!

depends...
i think you have to have passed your test BEFORE 1999 or something now to tow large trailers
anything after you have to do a seperate test
