Just wanted to know cos this guy obviosuly doesnt have one, but i know him and he said he will do me a really good price. £675 to fit badboy bonnet, veccy door handles, redo all the mesh, fix the rear bumper, sideskirt and stone chips on front bumper, then do a respray in audi moro blue. He said not to tell anyone else local cos he would charge them about twice that, so do you reckon i got a good deal? :S

if he's spraying in a proper booth then thats not to bad really but if he's just going to spray it in a unit then beware of dust.

I do bodyrepair on cars and did my first respray the otherday on a car that I had repaired and put back on the road. the finish is fine but tiny bits of dirt are noticeable and on a car like ur's im sure u wont be wanting this!

I'll be compouding it out with me trusty pro polisher and im sure it will get most of it out but I just thought it would be fair to warn u!

on the subject of ovens yer their fairly low temperature normally around the 30-40 degrees mark!

True, but no1 knows who the guy is

Its booked in for a week on monday, and he reckons it will take about a week. It probably is just an outside respray, but the new colour and the base colour are very similar so its not the end of the world. I know hes gonna spray under the bonnet the right colour though.

Bake mode on an oven is 80 degrees c for 40 minutes. However if its crap or really old oven, it probably wont rech the temperature unless its been serviced regularly.
I personally wouldnt take a car to a bodyshop that doesnt paint in an oven... theres more to an oven that just baking the car, for example, the high power extraction (not just a crappy we fan in the paint area) is designed to take all dust/dirt out of the air to give you an imperfection free paint finish. If you dont paint in an oven, the paint will be full of dirt/dust and contaminents that can only be polished out so far, they can never all be taken out.
Also, the ovens burner isnt just used just to bake paint, one of the main purposes of an oven is to give a consistant paint temperature through the whole paint cycle (car metal temp of 35 degrees) If you paint a car in a warm summers day, it will actually be too warm to paint as the paint is flashing off before the first full coat is on the car... basically meaning the finish will be pretty dry and horrible.
Painting out side an oven in the winter is even worse, but saying as your only talking about summer i wont mention that...
All the storys that bodyshops feed saying that you dont need an oven is bull-crap simply because they dont want to spend the money on the right equipment to do a good job, thats the way i see it. Our new oven cost 32k, a big investment... but the way i see it is idf the job is spot on everytime, people will pay the money for the work and our prices certainly arent unrealistic.

yeah, ive already leant you get what you pay for. Im not saying people shouldnt use good companies like yours, just i cant afford to! Its a car thats used every day, and will also be used for communting to and from uni etc so is bouind to get damaged anyway.

Good price for wots being done, but as others have said, the finish will be poor if he isnt painting in a controlled environment.

Then again as long as your happy with whats being done.
