Well im not a huge bass fan, as I tend to think that a classic indication of a ned boy racer is when you can hear the numberplate and rear wiper rattleing against the car due to the 2x15's they've dumped in the boot.
As a result I stopped running a sub a long time ago, instead iv'e got a set of 8' Pioneer 3ways in the rear shelf. These provide plenty of bass for my taste.
N.B. Im not saying that everybody who runs subs is a boy racer.

My mate has just got rid of his subs in his new Mini. He has Genisis 6x9s amped up and they sound mint for what they are!
Cost £150 apparently

I just direct the low bass notes to the rear 6x9's in my car and balance it so they produce more punch than the fronts... I've had people who are riding in the back asking what size sub I have
I can feel the air / sound waves being punched at me when its on a really bassy track and thats sitting in the drivers seat.

Get one of those 10" Vibe subs with the built in Amp............very good value/performance for money and easy to remove if you need the boot space!

Agree with Kolin thats the best solution, i got 2 x 12" subs in my boot, they lower the car another 10mm they are that heavy, BUT i used to always have 6x9's instead of subs there is no comparison what so ever i dont think, i think i will always have a sub in my car. Go for the plug and play Vibe

pah that vibe box will weigh a ton, a couple of JL 8 W0's is the way to go, with a quality amp powering them.
Will sound very nice, not ott bass and wont weigh a ton.

Vibe box wont weigh much more than that lot, Vibe is quick and simple base and great quality!
