Just curious to this. Someone I know has got one and won't shut up about it. I am always thinking of getting a Corsa C20XE, but just wondered if it would be quicker than a R5 GT Turbo.

Be close to 60.....after that, the 1.4 just cant cut it. Not to say they arnt fast, they just arnt as fast a 2.0.

His right... A valver will beat a standard R5 GT in a straight line.

Just don't foget that they can be tuned quite highly very cheap...

yeah the valver wud dick all over a GT !!! me mate beat a 323 beamer the other nite in his valver corsa and there was 80 stone in the car !!!!!!!! another one of me mates had a punot GT running at 200bhp and that dicked all over renault 5 GTs and the valver was berating the punto !!!! just !!!!

some R5s are fucked tho. and plus with very very little money, u can easily get 200bhp out of an R5 which are pretty rapid after that

Wouldn't say very very little money, that's hybrid turbo power which is not little money

Would be down to the specific car imo.

I'd expect them both to be 7.5ish to 60... both simlar BHP but the renult is lighter! but the Corsa will be ALOT more reliable as its just a 2.0L lump whereas the Renult is a old, small, french 8Valve 1.4 with a turbo forcing air into the engine! Put a Turbo on the Corsa and it would be a whole different story!

ye a standard R5 is 7.5 to 60. but as i said half the R5s around will be fucked and will do nower near that. then the other half wont be standard

My PGTT beat a tuned R5GTT and Lee Mitchell's standard XE beat my PGTT with ease.

This was'nt my Nova, this was Rachels Corsa, I have forgotten how slow these 1.4 16v's are.

No pictures, but I did see it yesterday

Just needs the alternator fitting and the transponder wired in and its finnished.

my m8's r5 (with turned up boost) beats valvers i wasent far behind the valver in my old gsi. but my audi kills all 3 top end

i agree its been my experience from mates who've had them they are either knackered or VERY VERY fast, but even the tuned ones are in the garage every two mins!
