Recieved an email from the buyer of my old video camera who is over in germany, after i'd given him my account details to do a direct transfer to my account ..........
' Slight delay, I'm afraid.
Apparently I need something called an IBAN number and a SWIFT code to make a
transfer from here. So I called Halifax and they're posting the IBAN number
relating to your account to you. When you get it, can you mail it on to me?
Apparently IBAN is the new fast, secure, all-singing all-dancing way to do
money transfers these days so I hope it'll only take a day or two for the
money to arrive once I get the number'

Looks like it's just your account number and sort-code, but converted for international usage......but I'd still check with Halifax in the morning.
