Right, gonna brave taking my KKK into work to check it out, but i have a feeling its gonna be fooked due to the damage the engine suffered, so the question i ask is this, does any one know the price of a Garret T3 turbo off the cossie, or where i might be able to buy one from, and does any one know of any difficulties in fitting a T3 to a let (other than having a custom manifold made)

well whats the problem with your turbo/engine.

putting a cossie T3 on would be silly probably. most likely not got the correct flow map. your better wither refurbing the OE KKK or get a hybrid one

engine went bang, in a rather large way...

two exhaust valve heads fell off, one disintegrated, the other was buried into the head, piston destroyed, bent conrod etc etc, so im guessing there may have been a flow of solid bits through the turbo, but i am going to check it out tommorow ( have been advised to spin it up with an air line and check it for vibration)

get a reconditioning of the turbo, and maybe use an uprated garrett actuator to fit the kkk16, i wouldnt bother fitting a t3 at all, just my opinion though

the stock turbo doesnt hit surge limit till 30psi's of boost pressure anyway, aslong as the airflow is increased by half then the turbo's efficiency doesnt go downwards, usually if you dont increase airflow by that amount, it usually dips off between 16-20psi

Basic T3s were used on metro turbos. Theres usually some lying around in scrappies, or you could try an owner's club. The metro engine is also used often to do turbo conversions in minis, so try http://www.turbominis.co.uk

Never bought anything from that site, but it might be of use to you.

Ash.

RS Turbos use a T3, so do the sierra cossies. I honestly wouldn't of thought a T3 would be of any use on a small metro engine? Theres enough lag on a 1.6!!!

well i still reckon you'd be better off reconditioning the kkk16 unit, its a great stock turbo and usually why people think they are crap is maybe because they compare old worn stock turbos to brand new hybrids, which also are they not as efficient they also take longer to spool, i've experienced the naivity of wanting a bigger turbo, and i took the route of sticking with the stock turbo, so glad i did

Well thats whats sat in my garage, and came off my mate's turbo engined mini...

...unless he's put a T3 on afterwards and not mentioned it... Doubt it tho, and I remember him turning his boost controller full on the wrong way to begin with and runnin 26psi Didn't keep it like that of course tho
