can you answer some/any of these questions

ok, dont have a license, what do i have to do?

cbt or wotever? whats that involve?

is it just a cbt and a road test or is there some written test too, like a theory?

once got cbt, can u drive any size bike with L plates on untill ya get full license or engine size limitted?


as for the bike itself...

what is insurance like on bikes? say 600cc?
any sites that do bike insurance?

As your an older lad drew you can sit the Direct Access Test which when passed will allow you to ride any size of bike, it costs around £280 - £300 and that includes your cbt plus 2 hrs on the 125cc then either 6 hrs or 8 hrs on the 500cc for your big bike test.

As for insurance the cost varies but theres plenty of bike insurers around now so just shop about for the quote.

if your over 21, you can do direct access.

You do a 1 day CBT, then after that you do 2 days to 5 days course. On the last day you normally take a practical exam.

You will need to do a bike theory test.

insurance - try bennetts. For me, 22 with no NCB on a GSXR 600 its about 900 quid TPFT. Fully comp would be crazy.

K, testings already covered... Go the direct access rout though

As for insurance, the company I used was Tanget, they were very cheap... For a 600cc I wouldn't expect it costing ya too much cash either Go for it! So much fun!

Silly boy... Sadly, after your first fall you might not have any skin left ... Really the bare minimun is Jacket, Gloves and you really need boots too, Trousers are a big big help in the winter, but they also stop you leaving large ammounts of skin smeard across the tarmac if you do come off...

Go for the road trials bikes tho, you can only have fun on them road sports things once your in to illegal speeds

If its your first bike and you aint used to one then the 600 is way to quick, i'm gonna start on the 400 not as quick as the 600 obviously but handles better and can be just as fast with a few mods, i'm gonna buy my mates when he gets his finger out and buys the GSXR 600, i've got a pic of it, took it today i'll put it up in a sec, it has a racing can, braided brake lines and re-jetted carbs.

I've had bikes for years, all motocrossers bar 1, the biggest I had was a CR 250 motox, went well for what it was then had an NSR 125 got used to that pretty quickly and was'nt that fast because i'm 16st lol. The 400 is a good bike to learn on you just need to respect the power it puts out for a relitavly(sp) small engine.

in some ways it not worth going for a 400 instead of a 600 for a first bike.

You'll get bored of the 400 quick and wish you had gone for a 600. A 400 is still quick, a 600 is just a bit quicker. The insurance isnt that much more.

I know quite a few people who started out on a 600 and they find them fine. You have to take the test on a 500, which if its anything like mine was, then will be heavy.

I rode a 400, didnt like it. I'm 6ft 3in and I found the 400 a bit small. 600 felt better, nicer riding position for me.

Even when i took the test and told the people i was thinking of a 400 warned me off it. They felt a 600 was better.

Yellow? you can get a bright yellow and black suzuki GSXR 600. Mates got one.

I know what your saying recaro but I aint that confident just yet and think that the 600 will be far to quick for me, my mates got the Gixxer 600 and it is fukin rapid, hes fitted a smaller front sprocket for better acceleration, loses out on top end though.
