I have heard that if you put long gearing into a LET you can get it near 200mph... Dunno if there is any truth in this...

Doubt it'd get to 200 mph - things with like 350ish bhp only get to around 190 mph and they have good areodynamics... Corsa is a bit of a tank so would need even more power.

As square said - I wouldn't like to be doing 200 mph in a corsa, I've had 117 mph on the clocks in mine and it feels like even the slightly jolt in steering will send you to death (downhill and only on clocks)

Also I donno about you 2 lt boys -but my window wipers flap all over the place at that sort of speed, whats it like doing 140?

I had a good race tonight against a Starlet Turbo, fast wee fukers for a 1.3, the lad followed me through a 30 limit so far up my ass that I could'nt even see his headlights when we got onto the 60 he floored it along side and I just went into 2nd gear about 30 and nailed it and didnt let him past, I looked over and he was goin crazy that he could'nt get past so I just put my foot to the floor and soared past him laughing, he followed me into a petrol garage and said he was gutted that a standard lookin Corsa gsi just took the pure piss outta him.

when it comes to top speed power isnt the main factor. its all about the gearbox + how long the gears are

very ture
the car can only do what the gearbox lets it do
so if u have
400bhp Corsa LET on a standard F20
VS
Corsa 2lt 16v 150bhp on standard F20

top speed will still be the same

er... yes - but if you don't have the power to turn the gears then your never going to get there mate and the longer the gears, the more power it will need. I.e. if your 6th gear went to 250 mph rather than say 201mph you'd need more power to turn it.

My gear box is limited to 119 mph I think - but I've never got to 119 mph because my car doesn't have the power.

I see what your saying though, a Ferrari 360 or something doesn't do 200 mph because they made the gear box shorter so that it accelerated quicker, afterall who's going to be doing 200

But, don't forget you may need a very very very long straight road to get your car even near 200 mph, even if you do have the power and the gears.

I raced a 2L nova in the BMW, stayed level until 110, then we had to slow down. He didn't look impressed that he couldn't outrun me but them I was just as annoyed that I couldn't outrun a nova!!
