Raced a 1.8 16v kitted up Corsa SRi up the STEEP hill outta Hemel Last night........and yep, pissed all over him

Just the driver in his, but 2 passengers with me. I kept waiting for him, then pulling away! The look on his face!! Then once we got to the top, i just had to show him it was a Derv by flooring it in 4th at 30mph.........Smoke City!

He followed me into MacD's, and parked up beside us. Got chattin, and he was pretty impressed...decent bloke....but i told him, dont worry mate, on the flat i would have been way behind!

Contrary to believe, my car doesnt actually smoke much, if any, on boost. Its been properly set up, so its not over fuelling. It only overfuels off bost, ie: flooring it in a high gear at low speed.
(little fact of the day for u - )

Yeah, it would be quite wrong if a 1600 16v with a 109bhp in a corsa didnt beat a 90bhp Derv wouldnt it mate?? 0-60 as standard is around 3seconds slower!!

nah wernt gettin bitchy mate, but the post is all about torque.

I'm running bout 118bhp and 174lb/torque, which although isnt 'hot hatch' figures, i was using this post to demonstrate the torque's uses

As for you saying how a GSi corsa will be a standard Diesel 306..........?? Of course it would. However, race a GSi up against the same 306 on a gradient, with decent weight inside, and you wont waste him

I'd say so. But you do need the power to back it up mind........which is why the GSi is excellent.....has a perfect combination of both, for the size and weight of the corsa

Ah, but u've got the power on both to back it up....i've got my 174lb/torque, but only 118bhp, a clunky box and 5k rev limit!

It doesnt bother me, coz its ins. grp 4 and does over 500 miles to a tank

why? Should a 1.8 16v Astra with the same power, but 50+ lb/trq less torque be beating me up a hill then? I'm not thinking so really. I show so many cars up on hills, and over 40mph!!!

All i know is i heard his engine scream thru one gear (possibly 2nd as we at around 40mph), then he dropped into the next, so i believe this would be his "peak" power whateva happens. I had the same car as a company hire car last month, and it severly seemed to lacked torque so that made sense.

But also seeing as he told me he was planted thru the gears trying to catch up......
