Corsa is about 950-970 with no people and 1/2 tank of fuel.

1.6 engine is about 70-80kg
Redtop is 120kg.

Oh, and my car, even with false floor, V6 brakes, rear discs, smooth boot, skirts (Stienys are heavvvvy) and 1/2 tank it came out at 1.02 tonnes. So it will still be less than a tonne.

Small block and big block engines. Gearbox alone make up shedloads. Soooo much more hevier than the F13/F15.

In fact, if u were to weigh JUST the engines, without wiring etc, i bet the redtop would only bit 10-20kg heavier.

Wicked power to weight ratio then... But then, a tuned C16XE could make a similar power to a C20 could it not? That would be even better

Take a look at a 50kg dumbbell. They're pretty small really - iron is heavy stuff; you'd only need a small increase in engine block dimensions to add 50kgs

Yes but much more expensive and not as much torque.

there was a thread recently about difference between tuned 1.6s and standard 2.0s. General consensus was that the 2.0 wins because of the torque, even if the 1.6 has slightly more bhp.

And then you could tune the C20XE up and it'd piss all over the little C16 anyway, no matter how much tuning you did to it... Is there anywhere I can find some performance figures for a C20'd Corsa, whenever I have done a search I always find some figures, then somone else has posted that thos figures are wrong

do you want standard performance figures? 150/157 bhp (C20XE/20XE), 0-60 in just under 7 seconds.

Yea, standard, although mine 'might have a performance manifold and chip in it so it could be pulling a bit over 160bhp' ... Fuck me - 0-60 in 7 secs!!! It's going in my 1.2 8v!!!

The extra CCs in a 20XE will always give it an advantage in power and torque for a given amount of money spent on the engine. Yes you can tune up the 1.6 to over 200bhp, but you need to stick your hand deeper in your pocket than to get a 20XE over 200bhp. However, some people reckon that if you've got the wonga, this aint a bad route to go down because, all ohter things being equal, a lighter well sorted 1.6 will handle better than a well-sorted 20XE
