Excellent

I owned half an Audi 80 for 11 days but never saw it.
It caught fire as it was about to be driven down to Coventry

I had a 1979, V plate XJS for two months bought from auction about 5 years ago for 700 quid. Was an impulse buy, and was white, like a proper Simon Templer mobile, for those who remember the 'Saint'. Bodywork was tatty. Few other faults, like tatty interior, broken passenger mirror, few dents, and leaked auto trans fluid.

Ran about in it for a bit, ran ok, the guy in the Silver XJS auction says 28 mpg, and whilst the later model was an HE, (high efficiency and better mpg), 28 mpg is BOLLOCKS. You would be lucky to get 18 taking it easy.
But its ok if you got the cash.

I spend 400 quid on it getting it set up, adjusting the weights in the dizzy or something which V12 Jags needs and also getting the autobox serviced and new gaskets. I also had it serviced at jag specialist, for 250 quid.

It needed new indicator stalks bit, I still have the part I bought the wrong one off a late model XJS and I have a door. I never fitted them as I was crippled by this things ability to guzzle gas and swapped it for a Citroen BX 16v. Which was quite tidy. No jokes please.

They are great cars but drink gas, if you razz about going down the shops and stuff and school run or what have you, expect about 14 mpg.

The XJR 6.0 version is pretty cool, TWR kit, does 170 mph.

Drinks more gas though.

Great image though, I forgot to say, all you need to make people think you are a Conference league footy manager or an ex chip shop owner.
