I have an Athlon 2000+ XP and P4 2.04 system but the Athlon at the P4
Both are running Windows XP Pro, same memory, HDD etc

p4 def faster clock speed of a 2000xp is about 1600/1700 when you are processing, but on a p4 its the full wack all the way! amd are cheap but good p4 are better for diffrent things tho! p4s run alot cooler so less risk of blowing amds run hotter so if u aint got that fan on right then say bye bye to the cpu!

Both systems are faned up to fuck so it's not a heat prob. The p4 is fast but not as fast as the Athlon. Well strange. Might be the MB

athlon's are very good chips, a 2000+xp will be as fast as a 2mghtz P4, and so on, athlon's tend to be better for gaming but P4's are good for multimedia.
it's down to preference now between the 2.

Depends upon what kind of procesing you are doing. Diffrent jobs prove to have diffrent speeds. Each processor have there own benefits and pit falls ideally if AMD and Intel put there heads together they'd come up with one AWSOME processor
