Hi,

At the moment i've got a Nova SR which is going to be sold soon as I want something a bit faster with no rust.

Can anyone give me a bit of info about the 1.4 SRi and the GSi, how well these cars peform? What to look out for when looking to buy them (e.g. rust spots etc)..

Also, can anyone point me in the direction for insurance on a GSi. I've just turned 18, where will I get a decent qoute from or more to the point will I get a decent qoute?

Cheers for any help.

Pick up nice gsi's quite cheap now.keep the rest of money for insurance.
Not much body mods stick to engine..
Early none ecotech gsi's had 109bhp 0-60 in 9 secs
ecotech same as 1.6 sport 106 bhp 0-60 9.5 secs.

with your age I would say best bet is the 1.4 16v sport m8....

You'll pick a GSi up for that price if you look hard enough, but that'd leave no sprae cash to insure it at your age - they're group 11, Corsa SRi is group 6 and if you find a 16v at the price, only has 16 or 19 bhp less.

Late M and N reg are 16v, there's probably less of them about than 8vs but they're cheaper that N/P reg Sports which have the same engine, but are newer and have electrics and a sunroof as standard. If you don't mind the drop in spec, you get the same power for a grand less
