I have just been thinking about something, may not bother with the Nova after all.

Found a mint condition Corsa SRi with a blown head gasket, now shall I go get this on Friday as it won't need much doing to the bodywork and will be much easier to put the engine in - Or keep going with the Nova?

Oh fcuk I wish I had never seen this Corsa for sale

Oh and strip all the parts off the Nova, lights, bonnet, wings etc etcc?

I can fit the brakes I've got and put them on the Corsa.

Shit the bed, how annoying

The Nova needs some TLC bodywork wise where as the Corsa won't.

Its all your fault

Nova will be lighter than the corsa though, so the engine should respond slightly better given the weight difference. Plus parts are cheaper to get (body-wise) than the corsa, so if you have a knock, its not going to cost too much

Corsa has a stronger shell...

Imagine black SRi with Speedlines, GSi kit, chrome cage. I may keep the Nova but do it slowly. Dad probably won't let me keep both though

Depends how bad the nova is. If it needs a fair bit of body work doing, thats more than cosmetic, get the corsa. As Paul said, the corsa shell is stronger, but is also less prone to rust.

Thats as long as this Corsa is still for sale, just tried to ring. No answer.

Nova is in excellent condition, floor pan is rust free just needs a new drivers side arch welding in and I've got a new wing to go on it.

beg to differ...

Whole front of mine needs replacing & possibly passenger-side chassis leg due to rust between where the lower cross-member is attached to the chassis leg... It's quite messy From what I gather, can be a week-spot on some of the older models!

Other rusty spot is on the bulk-head under the rubber-seal thing which stops water running from the scuttle into the engine bay...

oh and another favourite is where the wires & water pipe go from the main shell into the boot...

Yeah a lot of people have had problems with the chassis legs on the Corsa, my Nova chassis legs are in excellent condition for the age of the car.

I need to go and have a look at this SRi ASAP I'm dieing to see it.

same as I heard too even the old engine mounts on the legs have rusted a bit! (there 8v legs, so the mount-points are welded to the leg)

think I might replace both of them for some 16valve ones to be on the safe side & rebuild the whole front end...
