wired up a basic system in my girlfriends old style mini cooper. Just a bottom of the range 4x45watt JVC head unit and some £30 JBL GTO935e 6x9s in the back shelf.
But the result has been amazing. The 6x9s really do sound like subs, i think its becuase the boot of the mini is acting as an enclosure for them. I've got a similar set up in my car but with better quality components and it sounds no where near as good. I'm still shocked at how loud it was.

i honestly can't understand why anybody would want a sub in a mini, this sounded amazing. It got me thinking, would putting my 6x9s in a sealed box improve the sound much?

i can't c that 6 by 9's can sound like a sub. not even close.
sub = low frequencies
6x9 = all frequencies mashed in together

When I only had 6x9s and components I thought it sounded amazing, but now with my sub replacing the 6x9s it sounds like there is 100 times more bass.

i can see what ur all saying, but honestly u av to hear this first. Its prob a combination of the tight metal boot acting as an enclosure and the fact the cars so small means the speakers are nearer you.
