If your old brakes are still like new, you need heavier boots

Brakes are there for a reason tho.....

It's cheaper to change the brakes than rebuilding the gearbox

true but if your on a possibly icy piece of road and tap the brakes the car may slide

but changine down is less harsh and is controllabe

also if changing down fooks the gearbox none of my dads cars has needed a new box or clutch and hes been driving for donkeys years

I use the gears to change down to junctions and stuff but if i got to stop i use the brakes, don't slow down in the gears for long
