Maybe i'm totally wrong here.....but how comes bodyshops want £250+ for spraying a bonnet?

The bonnet in question is in the same colour as the car, but with patches of primer. I dont need the underside done, just the top flashed over in the original colour.

The car is metallic, so bodyshops have said they will be spraying the wings as well :S Is this a correct practice? wud it look stupid if i got just the bonnet sprayed?

they will blow the wings in, not fully repaint them as then the wing/door will be in the same situation and the doors will need doing, then the rear 1/4s etc and so on

they will blend the old and new paint across the wing to hide any variations in colour

but, as the bonnet sits at 90 degrees to each wing, any colour variences should be minimul to the eye is i would say, as shadows etc and light will be different

250 seems a bit steap, id say 180 max

Yeah but one bodyshop said £280, to spray the bonnet and blend it into the wings.

Thats not the doors, nuffin. just the bonnet and blend into wings. :S

I mean, even £180 to spray a bonnet? Is it coz its metallic that bumps the price thru the roof? Coz my glacier white corsa cost me £70 to have it fully sprayed.

Well to give you an idea m8, my m8 has a 306 the same colour as yours. I set him up with my bodyshop to do the following:-

Mk 2 306 btw.

Prime and paint a bonnet (has had ridge where peugeot badge goes removed and smoothed)
Spray onto wings
Fill gap in front grill with fibreglass and smooth, then respray entire grill.
Colour code rear 3D clusters and fit.

Total price £140.

So i think you are being done lol.

Newbury is prob a bit of a mission to get the car to, then get back from etc mate, but ur offer is appreciated!!

C-C - yeah, Edgware crash repairs and a few others round there! Worst comes to the worst, i'll ask Shockin' again, but they do it "on the side", so i'd be without my car for weeks

Oh really.....but does he have ovens to dry the paint in like 1 day?

Wot i cud possible do is go down on the fri, stay in a B+B or summat, and pick car up on a Sat morn or wheneva he's done otherwise.

Basically what i need doing is:

Spray bonnet. Thats all. The bonnet is currently half normal (ie: metallic blue), but the area area around where the vents have been pressed in is Primer. All i need, is the bonnet sprayed, preferably blended, but not 100% necessary.

see wot he says! cheers. Matt

PS: pics of vent in primer in my garage to give u a better idea?

Well £30 per hour for labour. About 4 - 5 hour labour. Then you have materials costs. Paint, Primer, Lacquer, Thinners, Activator, Masking tape, Masking Paper, Clear Mask, Dust Masks, Sanding Disks, Panel Wipe, Polishing Disks, Polish, Polishing Pads. Then a lil extra for the wear and tear of the equipment plus VAT... then u have the price you have
