My friends dad is a cop and he said that its not illegal to have your side-lights with front fogs on but it is illegal to have both headlights and fogs on.

I only drive with sides and fogs when it getting dark and then switch to headlights only.

i was sure that the ONLY time you can have your fog lights on is when visibility is less than 100 meters/yards (cant remember which).

i'm sure thats what the highway code says

Why not just put your headlights on rather than put your fogs on?

What is the point of driving with sidelights and front fogs? If the visibility is too poor for sidelights (and not foggy) then what's wrong with dipped headlamps. Unless you drive a BMW of course when the fog lights come on automatically with the sidelights! Sure the majority of people who drive with foglights on are just trying to show off the fact that they have them - as if anyone would be impressed!

only on when foggy. my headlights are bi-xenon and my fogs are yellow halogen bulbs, they look shite on together.

people that have them on when it's not foggy just look like complete berks. it doesn't make your rust infected 106 look any cooler/faster, no matter what fast and furious tells you

I have fog lights on the rear of my car and driving lights on the front.

I use the fog lights when it's very foggy so people behind me know i'm there and stand a better chance of not crashing in to me.

I use the driving lights at night on poorly lit or unlit roads so I can see where i'm going.

I dont see the problem with using fog lights. When i had my gsi they were nearly always on whatever the time of day/night, and regardless to what anyone else says they do look better when they are illuminated.

They also dont dazzle anyone else on the road, the whole idea of fog lights is to emit a shorter, lower throw of a less intense light to help see through fog as opposed to high level bright lights that just turn the fog into a white wall. Driving with fog lights on is about as dangerous as picking your nose in bed.

HID's dazzle people and should be banned, the amount of times ive had my retinas burned by oncoming hids and been put off by a set of hids in my rearview mirror is beyond a joke.
