everyone knows cold air is better for combustion as its denser, therefore more oxygen, and more fuel gets mixed and hence better performance.

so why not link and air conditioning unit directly to the air intake?? dont think it would be that difficult??

It would consume more power than it could ever give.

no, i thought an intercooler, just cooled the engine down, not the air comming in for combustion

thats wot he asked adam

but as TRL says the a/c unit consumes qute a bit of power - which will only maybe be made up with the cold air it puts into the engine

thats why the more ponies u give the engine the better performance intercooler will be needed, if i took my LET over 260bhp i'd need a new intercooler because the standard one wont handle it,

NO!!
Intercoolers cool the air between (inter) the turbo and engine....that is when it is at its hottest, therefore needs cooling!

AIR > TURBO > INTERCOOLER > ENGINE

When air gets compressed it heats up so needs to be cooled before hitting the engine.
