are these legal? becuase i was just pulled now and they toko it away and said if it turns out to be dodgy i may get a fine.

whats the legal situation on this.?

Thought that they were legal, because they assist in detecting speed cameras, which are supposedly there to reduce accidents not make money. Government can't argue with this as it would make it look like they were trying to catch people out with speed cameras and make money.

In france you can get a £1000+ fine if you get caught with one, and they will confiscate it.

UK Law

Legislation implemented on the 27th January 1998 made the detection of speed cameras a lawful activity. Every speed camera detector available to buy at SpeedCamerasUK.com is legal to install in your vehicle. Other web sites may sell you a system (such as a laser diffuser - which 'cloaks' your car) which the police may take away from you, if you are caught using such equipment.

Local Traffic Police pulled me an told me that if I get pulled to take the power cable out of it, as it's legal to own, but not to use... ? Dunno the truth in that but always do...
