Got the engine.

Starting rebuilding it tomorrow - Sunday.

Got some goodies on order along with some gerenal stuff. All the boost hoses are shit and need uprating. Should have it in and set up on the rolling road by friday night.

It looks like theres alot of oil over the front of the engine, the turbo blades look like there coked up with black soot aswell, a good clean sould sort that out.
Will be interesing to see what kinda power it puts out and how it behaves on the road.

Thats the exhaust side mate. Id expect that side to be black.

Should be 120 bhp. i reckon the could be reliable as any other turbo, if set up with the correct parts and fuelling set up correctly.

which its going to have.

120bhp? isnt that just 30bhp up on standard???

I was under the impression that a turbo'd c14xe wud be push nearer 140-150bhp? (obvious with chip/filter/zaust etc)

What boost it run, do u know?

well, the fueling will have to be right,
get the ecu remapped, bigger injectors.

Ggot forged pistons for it, uprated rods etc. Courtneay have sent me a proper head gasket which was nice of them, not the 3 ontop of each other like before.

I have a velo inlet coming as well, to elp her breath more easily. lol

120 bhp at the wheels mate. Id be happy with that.

thats about 140 at the fly. Will be boosting at 9psi. i think thats safe enough.

What pistons are you getting?

If they are low comp ones why are you fitting a huge head gasket?

Steel rods?

After market management? Will the standard management cope with bigger injectors? Are they even needed? What sort of injector duty are you reaching?

The x14xe injectors are the same as the x16 ones, so should be good for a easy 150bhp...

If your going to the expense of steel rods, forged pistons and aftermarket management you should be looking for more boost than that...

Headwork?

when i spoke to courtneay they said they were sending me the gasket and pistons. Not sure what ones. My mechanic will be doing the engine. il be the go for and learning from him.

Its running an FSE boost valve to increase fuel pressure just now so maybe managment may not be required.

The cylinder head has already been ported and flowed. I suppose you can run more boost, but im wary. never had an engine that not supposed to be turbo'd before.

Its more caution than anything else.

heard it turning over, still makes the customary 16v noise with the added pleasure of a turbo burble. It sounds pretty good. Dump valve is nice and loud as well. I was impressed.

You should get proper custom low comp pistons. Getting regular compression ones then using a thick head gasket is a waste of money and as much of a hack as just the thick gasket, although it will be a bit stronger.

How is the fueling increased at the moment?

Increased fuel pressure is no substitute for decent management.....

What parts are you replacing in the rebuild?

What are the rods? ARP rod bolts?

that does not even look like a water cooled turbo. whats it off an old turbo diesel

lots of oil around head gasket area.

if your doing it properly get ARP bolts like Miles suggested and defo get proper mapping UNICHIP at least. also suggest fitting an uprated fuel pump as well. your going to have to run rich to keep it cool. what will be the comp ratio.
