Battery light is on in my dash stayed on in a 5/7 minute journey, could it just mean it needs re-charging???

Nope, either the battery is well and truly dead or your altenator has packed up. If thats the case then your car will only run as long as the battery is charged so about 10-15mins... Best to test the voltages if you can...

alternators gone.

the light means that the battery is being used, but is not re-charging

yeah, happened to me, a new fully charged battery will last 200miles, an old one will last 20miles probably!

this happend to me, and i lost all power after about 20miles, turned out the fan belt had snapped

Yea its the alternator..... ide get it sorted.

1st my cd player turned off, then my leccy windows would only move @ snail pace lol n when i indicated it just cut out all togeather .

mine went when i was driving down m1, first i noticed m yfule gauge going down well fast, wonderered where all my fuel was going lol! then the battery light come on and it died

the belt wasnt there need new Bracket bolt and bush too!!!
