what the hell do you write for these things

the job is for a senior software engineer for a F1 team

is it just a case of saying why you want the job and why you deserve it above everybody else??

have to include my CV also

mm, f1 teams are after someone with dedication and enthusiasm,
I have wrote to lots of f1 teams and they are all after the same thing. Basically the best thing is to say:
That you will benefit the team and that you will see your efforts on the track, wining or loosing!

so does this sound good for an opening statment??

"i would like to be considered for the Senior Software Engineer role because i know my technical experience mixed with my love of Formula1 will be of benefit to Jordan F1, both on and off the track."

Our place tends to look for a letter than answers each of the points on that.

that was just an opening statment to grab their attention type thingy- is this a bad idea?

now im added bit about my previous experience and how it relates to what they are looking for
