lots of tuning can be done, over 200 bhp is possible. 140 bhp is easily and cheaply reachable.
low insurance group too.

Insurance group 4/5 for both the HDi and D Turbo (it varies depending on what model you go for).

HDi - £250 will get u a power stick. take u from 90bhp to 120bhp, and loadsa torque.

D Turbo - £120 gets u a stage 1 boost + fuelling reset. 115-120bhp and bout 175-180lb/trq

The HDi is probably the better engine to go for, but needs an intercooler fitted before you do any work. A hybrid Turbo, s2 powerstick, intercooler will see you on the good side of 160bhp and 250lb/trq+. However, as they are 99 onwards models, the cars themselves are expensive to buy.

The D Turbo is a strong engine, and s2 tune, bigger I/C will see u on the good side of 125-130bhp and 200lb/trq.
Straight thru systems make this motors roar, but induction kits do sod all. Slight free-er revving, but thats bout it. U can get mint low mile D Turbo 3 doors for 3k.

If ur lucky, u'll find the D Turbo S on a 98 plate with air con/leather/traction control/abs/air bags all round etc for around 4k.
