the standard electrician qualification is the city and guilds 2360, your generally considered qualified if you get your part 2, 3 years course on a day release thing. With your electrical engineering qualification you would walk the C&G course, i did something similar myself... the corgi equivilent for electricians is NICEIC (national inspection council for electrical installation contracting)

Hope that helps

NICEIC is the electricians version of the CORGI certificate.

nah u do the city and guilds part 1+2 and your a qualified electrician, nvq's etc are extras, i have my c+g part 1+2 and my nvq level 1,2+3, now going for my 16th edition test and inspection then prob do my part 3 nxt year, but the part 3 is an option and not necessary! u need to be niceic certified if you want to run your own business, alot of companys are niceic certified, its a company that gets inspected not individuals, as to quality of work and testing etc, and everything conforming to bs7671!

all depends mate, i did a one day a week course, and that was 2 years for the part 1, and a further year for the part 2, but my apprentice is doing the same but at a different college and his course is 4 years! really the part 1 is a piece of piss and is a multichoice exam! part 2 is the brainwork, not so much regulations as u get the aid of the regs book, but the principles side can be confusing!
