I have a PC right.Now i think it's gonna go to my ex as she has been paying for it for 2 years and there's only a tear left on it so i may aswell get a better one 
Now i know you can buy a storage devce that just plugs in and you can DL all the computers data on it and transfer it onto the laptop..But what i want to know is what is can store? As everyone knows there computers hold a shit load of info..eg Video files..Pictures...Internet stuff(see my other post about this problem) and my music files like Kazza Lite.
Can i get everything of this computer and transfer it to a laptop?

Portable storage media comes in quite a variety of shapes & forms...
You start off with your lowly floppy disk, which holds an embarassingly low 1.44Mb......not really much use in this day & age.
Next up comes the likes of your Zip-Disks......these can hold 100Mb, 250Mb, or 750Mb (I think). The 750Mb isn't too bad, just above a standard 80-min CD, but the disks themselves aren't cheap (you're looking at about £9 for a brand-new 750Mb zip-disk). However, you also need the zip-drive that supports zip-disks of the same size, and a 750Mb zip-drive will set you back about £65.
Which leads nicely into write-able CDs, which can hold either 650Mb, 700Mb, or 800Mb. For a standard write-once CD, you're looking at about 18p each if you buy in bulk (100's or more), so quite a nice cheap method of porting data from one computer to another. However, you're also going to need the CD-R drive, but you can pick up a decent CD-RW drive these days for about £25, that will support write-once CDs.
After that, you're looking at the likes of USB pendrives (which I've never really rated), and similar.
I'd say a CD-RW drive with a few CDs would be your best bet...

Forget that you say its going onto a laptop.
Get a crossover cable and network them.

But what about the key ring thing i saw? Are they shite?
How do i know how much MEG i've used on my comp?

Right click on the C:\ in My Computer and click on properties.
Those keyring things will hold limited amounts of data... depending on which model it is, it could be either 32/ 64/ 128/ 256/ 512 megs. It will work fine if you just want to copy mp3s etc across.

personally, if you have more then a few gigs of data that needs to be transfered I would go for a network connection between the two computers to transfer all the data over quickly, but unless you have the equipment or friends that can do it for you a nice easy way would be to just use CDR's, so 650 odd meg space on a cd, 10gb odd used, thats around 15 CD's of data, but remember not all of that data is going to be the stuff you described, it will be program files and windows etc 
still 15 CDs is alot of bollocks to deal with.
Can't windows XP or whatever it is do a network connection/transfer over a USB cable? nice and cheap
good luck, also remember if you have a good connection you could probably download most if not all the mp3's again from the internet.

I know mate but i've got LOADS of songs that have taken me ages to get.Not just DL but get the best quality ones
I might just take it into PC world when i get the laptop and get them to tarsfer all the stuff i need

Does the computer have a network card already installed?
The laptop probably will.
Very easy to transfer stuff that way.
That key-ring thing in PC World will be one of these:

This might be a good option, you can keep writing to it and deleting stuff. If its only the music you want to keep at around 5Mb per tune you'll get 25 tunes on a 128Mb. They also have bigger stuff, look under 'USB Flash Disks' here:

corsa nut, ask around your mates who may know some stuff about computers, if i was you, I'd rather give my mate a few pints to do it then let them bastards at PC world to do it, and I dont know what their policy on copyright material is either.

If you don't have anyone to do it bring it over to the college where I work - they run a business as part of the course upgrading and repairing computers and could use this as a live job. They do most jobs for a fiver 
Let me know if you need to do that and I'll get the guys phone number. You'll have to wait until the 5th though.

depends what your computer is like, the network port may be on its own card like.
or might be on the motherboard.. just look for a socket like...
there might be one looking like that which is the 56k modem, but it smaller i believe.
