You can go to the bank and ask for a business pack

They give you a pack with a cd/floppy with balance sheets, forecasting sheets, buget plans the lot.

Use those as a template to do your business plan.

You need to research into the market too as it will look better for you if you know what the market is like. eg. if its a bit slow (IT repairs usually are at xmas btw), The bank maybe less willing to give you a loan as the business is not there to make profit, therefore they will think you cant pay the money back as easily

Look into where your business will be based. An idea of what your property space will be like, storage space for parts, facilities, all that will also look better to the bank. You need to know how much the rent/mortage on that kind of place will be.

Marketing plan - put one in to show how you will drum up your business. Look at the cost implications of various methods. Maybe invest in a quality colour printer as it will cost you less in the long run.

Forecast your sales as best possible. Show your out goins and in goings (should all be in the banks business plan - i think lloyds have the best one, but get one from every bank).

If you want to get into IT, give us a shout for parts etc coz i can give you some good suppliers (but dont tell me boss!)

If you want a hand with your plan, give us a shout too. I did business management at college and i still speak to be teachers, so ill show them too.

oooo forgot to add

Check with companies house so you can register your business and get costs etc.

buy everything fixed wise in the 1st year as best possible, so then you can write them off against tax and get depreciation allowence on vechiles and stuff! even little things like uniforms, you will get tax allowence on!

so declare everything!

Don't know if someone above has said it, couldn't be arsed to read it all.

You only need to register with companys house if you want to be a limited company and you only need to register for VAT if your turnover or expected turnover is going to be over £54,000 per year.

You can download all necessary forms from:

http://ws5.companieshouse.gov.uk/index.shtml

thats true. And to register it cost £200 odd quid but you can hold that as a dividend and claim it back. You will also need a secretary(if goiung as a limited company)

you wont need companies house, but i agree with austin, work from home untill you get a customer base to work with, then once you name spreads, THEN move to a wee shop or summin.

Business like mine obviously needs to be VAT registered even thou im only a small business im still on course to do my predicted £250,000 this year.

To be honest how much call for PC's is there in your area? if not much then keep it as a sideline, it'll keep the costs down and you could perhaps save the money up for another venture (or if enough interest expand into a shop at a later point)

Yeah in gwent there are currently 3 main players.

One on a rather busy industrial estate, Azteq in one of the busiest places in gwent and AJM micro who do all south wales computer fairs and also have their own shop.
