how easy is it to change your CPU and RAM?

compared to changing a HD

what should i look out for any pointers ?

Pretty easy, it just unclips.

Pretty easy -- motherboard manual should describe the simple method.

Note when installing the new CPU, do NOT test it without the heatsink/fan on (even if only for a few secs)... most new CPU clock speeds mean it'll burn out in a few seconds...

will i get any problems , the pc id from 98,or around that .
i have a new 80gb HD.
i am now intending to upgrade to the spec below ,whihc i need to run a program .how mcuh will it cost me for the parts ,i have xp already to upgrade to .

Random Access Memory is piece of piss just plug and play you should see on your motherboard a medium sized card. is easy to change and quite cheap

make sure ur motherboard can take the ram + cpu.
it might not be compatable with the board.

ram is easier than HD.
CPU is abit trickey, depending which u go for.

btw mate, on that spec machine you might have probs running XP. Well not problems, but it will be fooking slow Run 98 on it and take everything off it that you dont need, and then it should be sorted

Micro-Direct sell some very low cost components, well worth a look, you could get a newer Motherboard, processor and 512mb of ram for less than £100. Keep your existing case, CD/DVD rom power supply and monitor

bullshit, i run XP Home on a 400mhz Celeron with 384MB RAM on an old Intel 440LX chipset and it runs like a dream.
