rite, i keep having to refill my coolant resevoir every couple of days cos its going rite down. I've had new pipes put in and a new water pump to remedy this, but its no better. I'm gonna go down the garage and make em fix it for free. But just so i know - wot other causes could there be of this problem? I can't see a leak, but there must be one somewhere. Any help much appreciated cos its really pissing me off and its hasn't been rite for months. cheers

you sure there is no leak, not even when the car is running, start it and the water pressure will rise then look for the leak

Rite. To recap.
No apparent leak - just left car running for a couple of mins couldnt see any leak. Also neva a puddle under the car when its stationary.
No gunge or 'mayo' under the oil cap or the coolant cap.

But somehow the car is losing coolant somewhere. I fill it up to the maximum mark and within a few days the coolant has nearly completely gone from the bowl floor of the resevoir.

Wot the heck is going on!

really sounds like your gead gasket has been breached, the water ends up getting burnt off, have you noticed any performance loss, does the car overheat, do a compression test on the cylinders

Haven't noticed any particular performance loss, i'll try a 0-60 later see if its similar to wot i used to get. As for whistling dont fink so but its bloody noisy in the car anyway so duno, mite do. thanks for the help...

one other thing that sometimes happens when the head gasket is gone is you get allot of pressure in the collant system, dont fret if you take the collant cap off there is a normal pish of pressure but if there seems allot this could be gasket, get a garage to look at it, what engine is it, i have changed head gaskets before its not a hard job really

while the head is off i would get them to change the oil valve stem seals and if the heads a little tappy the hydraulic valve lifters, not cheap the lifters about £140 for the set , if the cars not been overheating you might be lucky and the head might not need skimming i would say your looking at about £250+ for the head gasket, but one for about 20-30 quid and do it your self, if ya were closer i would be happy to do it for ya
