Reverse lights havent been workign for a while, checked bulbs, and fuses all ok, anybody any ideas why just the reverse lights have stopped working?

I have recently had the gearbox rebuilt, could the reverse light switch/plug be mounted sumwhere on there and maybe they forgot to plug it back in when the box was rebuilt?

on a corsa its on the front of the gearbox, has cables and a pug running into it - not an expensive job - cost me less than £5.00 for the replacement............ should be about the same for a 106
