jus gon an bought a dvd writer , now do i rip my old cd writer out or put the dvd writer in aswell so i hav 3 drives

then yeah, why not run all three drives and the HDD together. I got 2 HDDs so i can only have 2 drives although i only need two, so

Use IDE port 0 (primary)for Harddrive (master) DVD wrighter (slave)
Use IDE port 1 (secondary) for Second cd drive (master) third CD (slave)

easy.
