is this true:-

Diesel dump valves dont work off the turbo, as there diff to petrol turbos. They use a solinoid and work from vacuum created by the brakes. and there really only for mechanical diesels- not new electronic diesels.

the plumb in as normal, they use something like an egr valve connected to the vacuum from the servo. yes they are pointless, they lose speed as they dump all the boost so the turbo has too spool up again.

as for mech or ecu controlled, you an get kits for both. personally i think they are counter productive though and quite silly.

No mate - i dunno wot kits u've seen or heard, but mine is alot louder than ANY petrol cossie or scooby i've heard with one (although i turn mine down). However, it purely comes down to how much boost ur at.

Even as standard, TDs make alot more boost pressure than petrol cars, and use exactly the same kind of DV, so there isnt any possible reason for them to sound different.

A: The dump valve on a TD still dumps air that has been spun by the Turbo

Q: They use a solinoid and work from vacuum created by the brakes

A: Yep thats correct

Q: And there really only for mechanical diesels- not new electronic diesels.

A: No - kits available for both. There is no reason for a mechanic OR ecu managed turbo D to have a DV

OK?

ah but they still have a function. dont forget turbo cars draw a vacuum when you lift off the throttle, this will slow the tubo down even more than not having a dv atall.

U believe most people who do not abide by or agree with things you say as being gay. It is nothing new.

But please note - what vibs is saying is, anyone with an atmos DV on their car is gay.

Yep i know - and on the Pug DTurbo, i know of 2 people who have had to have their turbo's replaced since having their boost uprated. The conclusion was, that the increase in air pressure cause turbo damage + failure. Niether had a dump valve.

yes maybe, but fitting a dumpvalve wont solve that atall. if they did prolong turbo life then they would be fitted as standard. the reason is that there turbo is too small for the boost they are shoving through it.

I personally find some cars with atmospheric valve sounding gay. e.g cossie, punto with a bailey or collins. I did like mine but it was crap on performance as far as I was concerned.
