Hi there, for those who have done this conversion, i know it may sound stupid but how old are you?

And how much do u pay for insurance?

just looking into it and seeing if its sensible to do it at my age (18) or wait a while.

Thanks

Might b better waiting a while mate. I was speaking to some1 who was 20 with a years no claims and they were paying bout £1800. Suppose if uve got 0 no claims at 18 u wud b looking at about 2300-2700 (very rough guess)

See that doesnt seem too bad, which insurance company are they with?

Do you know what insurance group the corsa would go into if it had a 2.0 8v/16v or 2.0 litre turbo?

normally goes into the insurance group of the car the engine is out of. So Astra GTE MK2 or Mk3 2.0 GSi engine is about insurance group 13-14 i think. Turbo ya lookin a couple of groups higher. A mate of mine had a 2.0 ltr Nova and was with Adrian Flux. Well known for performance insurance as ya probably no. Every1 is with different insurance companies tho so probably best 2 wait for a few more replies. Think liverpool direct r meant to b conpetitive aswell

2 b honest theres not alot else unless uve got serious cash. I mean a 1.6 with alot of money thrown at it can hav 160bhp+ and wil handle better than a 2ltr because of being lighter. But its so much cheaper to drop a 2ltr 16v in to get similar power gains. The 2ltr 16v lumps with decent induction/filter, zorst system, chip and maybe inlet manifold could b approaching 170+bhp. Should b enough in a Corsa to make ya smile

how much you got 2 spend for the conversion? u got any no claims? seeing as your getting the engine out and replacing it with a 2.0l then u might aswell go the full monty and get a calibra 2.0 16v turbo lump , just phone those insurance companys before you get your hopes up

i doubt it would be more than that as 19yr olds with 2 yrs NCD can get it for £1900 ish i think, you have an extra 2 years no claims, and that makes quite a big difference. Also your age probabluy will too. Ring a few companies and let us know!

Best advice I can give is to wait till 19, I spent 2 whole days ringing round and no1 would cover me (30 plus companies rung) the only one that would was HIC but they said wait till 19 because they dont cover people under 19 and then I would be looking around the £1000-£1300 mark for a 2.0 16v in my corsa.

so best bet is too wait until 20+??

Then insurance would be far less.....and to go with specialist insurer's?

Where has every1 gone for there conversion's? has any1 done it themselves or best to pay a garage?
