right i have just rang my insurance company which is tescos here is the following information

she asked me my mods
alloys to the value of £900
exhaust performance upgrade
suspension to the value of £600
airfilter performance upgrade

she then asked me how much bhp my car has which is approx 172 bhp and how much i would expect it to increase by so i said 180bhp. she put it down as a 10% increase.

total cost £90.30

this is only for the remaining term of my policy which expires at the end of feb 2004. so call it three months its an increase of approx £30 a month

hope this helps

i'm with CIS and they told me that u dont have to declare the cosmetic mods etc as such just take them into account in the stated value of your car and keep reciepts etc. so it must depend on company policy. I not sayin this to be argumentative just sayin it so that people dont assume all insurance companies are the same!

oh and engine mod wise i wanted to do a mod that'd increased my BHP by about 10 BHP and they said all i had to do was put it ll in writing for them and they said for only 10 BHP it wouldnt affect my insurance which i was pleased about but i never went ahead with the mod, due to a change in plan, so cant say for sure if they'd have stuck to it if i had wrote to them! LOL

i think with anything like this u really need to get it on writing from the insurance kus u know wot they are like when it comes to makin a clainm they try to wriggle out of anything

It makes me laugh how you people go mad because of a £30 increase

I live in Ireland and you would be lucky if yer increase was under £400 with them modz

And If i was to get a 2.0 put in the car there no way they would even qoute me and im 26

Insurance in Ireland = Rip Off!
