in short, instead of having one air inlet for four pistons, quad throttle bodies involve one air intake for each piston.

all your doing is letting the car breath a lot more air than is possible with a single throttle. with more air gettign sucked into the cylinders you need more petrol. this gives you more power. it's that simple. the design of the inlet and the size of the throttles play a part in the power band as well as the torque levels.
