Hi today jump started *with a jump pack that has reverse polarity protection* my 1997 Vauxhall Corsa B Sport 1.4 16V after being sat for a very long time.

It started and was running for several seconds then removed the jump pack leads but it then immeadiately died? tried jump pack again and made error noise so tried normal battery charger amps jumped straight upto max 5 amps? so then disconnected all battery leads and connected directly to battery terminals then acted normally like a dead battery. I could not swap out battery today as do no have tools to get the clamp off.

So could i of killed my ecu somehow when removing the leads? obviously hoping is a fuse or something so did a visual check on all fuses above ecu but looked ok?

Started fine means the pack was OK

Immediately died means the alternator can't sustain the draw or the battery is so knackered that its saturating the alternator.

Battery will draw a lot of current if its totally flat, that is normal.

Jump pack straight on the battery terminals should work normally, if that is the current problem and its not jump that could also indicate poor connection other end of those leads.

Have you got horn/radio/washers etc. with the jump pack connected to the terminals with no battery present?
