 | What are Toyo R888's like on the road when not driving hard? Do they grip like normal road tyres when cold?

 | They'll be fine in the dry, probably not disasterous in the wet.

I personally think it's a waste of money. They're expensive so you can drive hard, if you're pootling about, throw on some Nankangs.

 | They will give you better grip in nearly all conditions over normal road tyres, even when cold but they will wear much quicker. They are rubbish at dealing with standing water.

 what a load of cack...

888's are great in the rain, better than most road tyres.

Its only when you get to deep pudles, or rivers on the road that they will lift.

Of course, as with any tyre, the less tread depth you have the worse they will be in standing water

 | Adam, I used them on the road every day for a while and they were shocking.

 [edit]

IMO of course, mainly because a tyre which is 'great in the wet' should be able to handle standing water, or a puddle, IMO...
