 | MOT in 2 weeks, few little things to sort out such as front brakes, top mount, couple of bulbs and wipers.
But my question is, if you have front fog lights, do they have to work? Mine currently dont, but not sure if its just the bulbs or not as i changed my front bumper a few months back and the fog lights in the old bumper didnt work either. But that could of just been bulbs aswell....
Anybody know if they have to work for the MOT?
 Cheers

 | I thought it was under the rule of "if its there to be tested it will be, and if it doesnt work will fail"

like a rear wiper or spare tyre etc

 | As said, if they are there, they must work.

That's in the eyes of the law, MOT is different, front fogs aren't checked same as reverse lights and rear wiper.

 | spare wheel is not an mot fail, neither is an insecure battery.. its been a dodgy subject for years and cars have been failed due to these 2 things but it has come to attention that its not legally an mot fail... not much help on the front fogs but hey ho.

 | Only lights that get tested on an mot are sidelights, indicators, brake lights, dipped and main beam and rear fog.
the if its there, it has to be tested rule is true for cerain aspects of the test, such as if you have rear seats, you need to have seatbelts etc.

the only time you could possibly fail on a front fog lamp would be if the beam pattern was directed in such a way that it were to dazzle oncoming traffic. that would be at the mot testers discression.
