 | I drove the 3.0si coupe the other year, looking to buy one after TT.

Never felt quick being NA but surprising just how fast you were doing.

Think would need to be the 2.5 / 3.0

Insurance on the 3.0si will be alot better than an S2000 if your quotes are anything like mine!

 | Got to be a 3.0 manual. Buy any other spec and you'll regret it two weeks down the line.

 | If cash was unlimited then yeah, bigger engine would be top of the list.

3.0s are a lot more to buy though, and a few hundred quid more to insure so 2.5 will be my limit.

If I could shift my Golf, buy a Z for about the same money and spend £5/600 extra on insurance I'd be perfectly happy, I should be able to do that easily with a 2.5.

Got another one to go see this weekend

 | I test drove a 2.5l Z4 and S2000 on the same day.

The Z4 was nice and did seem smoother but it felt much less 'sporty' and much softer than the S2000.

I bought the S2000 and i've never regreted it, so much more raw and feels like it wants to be driven hard everywhere. If you want a fun 2-seater then i wouldnt be going for the Z4, but thats just my opinion, maybe i drove a bad one.

 | How hard are these to facelift or at least change all the lights to de-tango them??

Also are they all SE spec pre-facelift?

Insurance is double for me anyways.

 | Driven a couple more, both were dogs compared to the first.

Went back to the garage for the first as they've dropped the price quite a bit. Turns out is doesn't have a single piece of service history with the car

On a positive note, Greenlight insurance did me a brilliant deal, over £300 cheaper than all other insurers and business cover and protected no claims at no cost.

 | Does the car feel like it will probably have been serviced?

If it looks ok and they/you give it a service just now it's not the end of the world.

 Factor in resale value though.

 | For its mileage the condition is excellent. The trip computer is saying its 10k miles overdue an oil change though.

I really want to know the Insp1 and 2s have been done as those'll cost me a bomb if they haven't.

 | Wouldn't touch it. My Uncle & Aunty had a Z3 with no service history before the Z4 and it was worth bugger all when they came to get rid! No one wanted it cos of the lack of history.

Also getting the service history from BMW will only work if it was actually serviced there and not at an independent garage.
