Any ideas

I have done Phoneswitch but it only took Inbox/Sent/Drafts..

Saved Messages didn't come across???

Any ideas how to manually do it, doesn't seem to be an option to transfer the messages to inbox to do the transfer.

doesnt saving them save them to either the memory card/sim card so when you swap them into the new phone they should appear shouldnt they? thats what i was led to believe happened when they were saved.

Have you tried MyPhoneExplorer? You should be able to save "saved" messages (acrchive them to your pc) and then re-upload them to your N97
