No offence to you but you need to get your priorities right mate , that being tools and equipment , not a dolled up van. Im a joiner but I know that even a spark's hand tools cost a lot , i.e £15 screwdrivers.

When I started my apprenticeship at 18 I was using my corsa , then escort gti , then my ibiza cupra to go to work. All that time i was spending money on tools and it was only at the point where I could no longer fit the tools in the car that I went for a van.

I chose an astravan mk4 and part of the reason for that was that it was very like a car and I could "modify it" to a certain extent. However , once I got the van the idea of turning up to a clients house in a boy racer mobile just didnt seem too proffesional at all. I kept the van for around 6 months and now have a Ford Transit MWB and bloody love it ! The astravan was small and impractical.

What Im saying is , your van should be for work only and not for pleasure and for a whole host of reasons.

All imo of course !

Combo's are definitely a lot more car like and built like a Corsa (so not horrendous) Connects are more flimsy than other Fords imho.

Ive used both a transit connect and a Combo for a week a peice while people were off on holiday and I can honestly say Id still keep the Fiat Doblo I use the rest of the time, its far better, it has 100bhp 2 sliding doors a CD player leccy windows 2 massive cup holders and does 55mpg, its done 136k and has a major oil leak, and has still never let us down

the 06 reg transit we had for 2 months was fucking briliant though they are just too dear to buy

I have a Citroen Belingo on a w reg. Currently has 66k on the clock and never lets me down. Does around 350 miles to £40 on it's 1.9 Diesel engine.

Must only be worth a few hund quid but it's something you don't need to worry about with regards car park dings etc. If it breaks, scrap it and find another one

We have a Ford Connet too. Loverly on the motorway but the turbo lag is annoying as fuck arround town.

You dont need a van

I used to get 3 meter lengths of trunking in the Ibiza, 2m with ease!

You want impratical, Mito. Can't even fit a toolbox in the boot!!! But, I still do plenty of cabling jobs out the back of it.
