Do they actually exist or is it theoretical? The intake/exhaust overlap on that is stupid, would be worse emissions than a Wankel!

Yeah, but i'd rather have mine on the back of an old Scammel/Kenworth/Peterbilt tractor unit with an extended chassis and adapted transmission.
Perhaps of whiff of N2O also

I was reading PPC the other day, just one lying around at the workshop, about Charlie's first jaunt with the 27 litre SD to the pub
I love that guy.

I know. Isn't it great.
As such it's a tad on the large side, a wee bit heavy and ever so slightly juicy and difficult to manage.
If I remember correctly, they have 18 cylinders and a capacity of 88 litres and weigh in at over five tons, hence me wanting a baby one commissioned in alloy. I'd want it as big as possible, whilst being just small enough to fit snugly into a MK II Escort engine bay. It'd make a nice companion for my methanol fuelled V16 BRM engined MK II I have planned.
The Deltic engine itself has maritime origins and was originally much more powerfull but the loco variant has a limited/reduced output of a mere 1650ish horsepower to promote reliabilty.
They idle faster than most diesel train engines' maximum rpm so make for quite the racy bit of kit.
The Deltic locomotive utilises two engines, back to back so can crack 100mph in spite of weighing over a hundred tons.
I'm not a train buff btw, I just think the Deltic is a work of utter genius and pretty much the only thing to be train shaped and/or diesel that can be construed as cool.

Indeed, and all from over half a century ago.
I might put the BRM engine in a MK I shell actually. Nice bit of variety over the fleet.
