Been 'playing about' with online quotes as my renewals not far off.

Deciding that insurers dont like my occupation as they seem to have some warped idea that the 1st thing we do once home after falling out the pub is give death to & crashing performance cars

So with that in mind I changed my occupation on the online computer-bob thing to..................'stuntman'. Yes honestly, a stunt man - as in rolling about on fire & jumping out of speeding trains person......& I shit you not that it was very VERY reasonable quote, much less than stating my 'real' job!!

Now this got me thinking, I dont use my car to commute, so whats the chances of them finding out that an unemployed stuntman between jobs atm is actually employed elsewhere??

Go on humour me!! Im being serious btw

I doubt they would ever chase up your job if you claimed anyway? Just get your boss to lie for you?

The guy a work with couldn't get insured with one company for his Astra because he was a labourer. He told them he doesn't use his car for work. He gets picked up in a work van and dropped off. Still wouldn't insure him.

Reason its cheap is probably because you can count the amount of stunt men in the UK on one hand. So accidents will be few and far!!

I would actually piss my pants if my renewal came through saying im a stunt man

iv my occupation was down as working for a garage which technically i do, my insurance would be a lot more and id lose my drive other vehicles thing. if i put it down as a storeman, which is part of my job, its a lot cheaper and i keep drive other vehicles.

Mental isnt it, probably more 'garage workers' smashing performance cars than 'storemen'.

Do you think I could argue that My full time employment is stuntman but im out of work just now & that my 2nd job is working offshore??

Nic's situation is same as mine, but I can't avoid it as there is only 1 title for me lol. Reason for premium in that case being higher and loss of drive other cars is because it's motor trade and they don't want to run the risk of you using that insurance to cover business use. For that you need a traders policy etc etc.

Not sure how you stand tbh Colin - I can't see why not risk it, but at the same time I have that niggle that somehow they'd find out and use it as an excuse not to pay out should you need it - insurance companies will always try to wriggle out of of paying however they can!

My insurance wanted to double my premium when I went from being a student to employed full time. So yeah, apparently students are less of a risk!

my job makes my insurance cheaper, they see me as driving more performance cars than your average joe so they did a little reduction on it. the online quote things never do a good deal for me, always prefer to speak to someone. got my m5 with royal sunaliance (spelling) they do a very good "performance" car policy with alot of extras thrown in.

as a garage worker most insurancre policys wont cover for 3rd party on other vehicles as you have access to too many vehicles.
