Guys this might be a silly question but do you have to be insured on your car to be able to tax it, or can you tax it without insurane.

And when you insure your car someone told me it takes 24 hours for the insurance certificate to come through is this true,

need to have insurance and mot and v5 logbook with same name as insurance cover note

yes 24-48hours, post office wont accept fax copies

You can have the certificate/cover-note faxed.

Alot of insurance companies will also email you a PDF so you can print it out..

The stupid thing is post-offices will accept a laser printed copy but get funny about faxes? When a fax is legally binding and a printed copy is not.

Go figure!
