yeah i'm not going to listen to anyone who says not to get a cheapish car because i want a house and i'm almost 22 which in my family is pretty old to still be living at home.
i need to get out anyway, no privacy at the parents house and doing shift work and having 2 younger brothers and a younger sister don't mix. always getting woken up which obviously affects my work.

Get it done then lad, get yours up on PH
Not sure what you can do with the outstanding finance though....usually your expected to settle that before you sell it!!?
As for next car, just worry about that when the time comes. Take the best of whatevers available at the time. You'd maybe be doing yourself a turn by keeping away from any sort of high mileage hatchback.
Just get down the auctions & see whats available. Something like a 2L vec or Octavia or whatever will probably be better than a hammered saxo VTS.
If your going down to £1k car you want to last dont worry too much what it is, just get something solid, cheap to fix with a lil bit of grunt!!
Get your house man your totally doing the best thing.
Im back living with the parents while mines getting built & its absolute hell!! And thats just the 3 of us nevermind if theres young bro's & sisters!!

with the finance, you just pay it off when the seller pays you the money for the car.
obviously you have to sign something to say you will do this so as to not scam them.
and yeah, 12 year old brother and sister + their mates coming in is the most annoying thing in the world. really does my head in.

Get yours up for sale now then otherwise you'll probably not sell it until Feb!!
Dec/Jan are a nightmare for selling cars!!
I didnt know that reg. finance. Suppose that would be ok though!! Any time ive sold ive settled it before hand!!

I think they are alright actually. A guy at my work swears by his MG's, hes had several for road and track including some ex touring car thing he now has. I'll ask him when I go back on Thursday what the crack is when I go back.

I would look at MK4 Golfs. I fancy one of these as a runaround and they are cheap and very few people report major problems with them, being German they are as reliable as anything!

Probably will go at somepoint but its a easy quick job. Plus landrover headgasket or simular stronger one and jobs a goodun
Good looking cars. Driving position is a bit cack imo but you would probably get used to it
Drives supercharged Tec with torque

A mate of mine has a 1.9 diesel one (the 105bhp one) and it went round 200k a couple of months ago So yeah, they keep on going It needed a new gearbox a while back but that's because she broke it trying to overtake

Fkin lol @ the comment from corsa120
Unless your loaded you just can't have a decent house and a nice car like an ST! We have a bit of cash left over after all the bills etc but that soon gets eaten up with general bits and bobs
And i said a DECENT house not some shitty terrace in the bronks.

Get a 12v. Mine's well reliable. Just boring and irritating.
I've put up with it for over 3 years and 40k miles.

That's the one I am looking at. About £1500 for a T plate. Reliability and MPG, can't go wrong. Winning the race for a cheap reliable runaround so far

I got a 51 plate tdi 110bhp toledo with 60k miles a year ago for £1800, I think I could still sell it for that.
Apart from needing new springs it's been brilliant for the most part and i'd much rather have that than an equivalently priced golf, perfect runabout and at £80 for a remap it's not too slow.

Ben - Not sure if you've seen it but there's a massive car auction opening down ferry lane, could be worth a look? will try and find the website.
Info :http://www.findtheneedle.co.uk/products/2406541-online-express-vehicle-auctions.asp
Their website isn't complete though by the looks of it. Could be worth a visit or phonecall
