Morning boys
Just a quick question, i feel like my car could do with some more back pressure in the exhaust system to give it a bit more umph
It currently has decat and powerflow straight through around 2" bore if i remember correctly with oval backbox, not really ideal tbh, is there anything i can do to get some more back pressure??
Anyone recommend maybe a different backbox or something?
Oh and its a 1.6 Gsi if that makes a difference

How can you 'feel' like you need more back pressure?

Thanks Matt what would CS do without your sarcastic input
Im not entirely knowlegable about this thats why i posted it, obviously theres something terribly wrong with asking a question i wasnt sure about.
After chatting with someone my car might be running too rich. So they have answered my question.
Thanks for your efforts though

all cars need some form of back pressure of they tend to run like crap. 2stroke bikes have to run a fair bit of they dont run right eather.

Just seemed like a pretty random question with nothing to back it up.

tis true if you run too big a bore it just runs shite, my corsa was the same, felt dead flat with no cat and a bigger bore so had a smaller middle pipe made up and felt so much better and smoother

I'm running a manifold on the XE just now since the de-cat pipe snapped. I thought it would be drinking the fuel but the mileage's pretty much the same, I've defientely lost some low down power though.

Back pressure's something you need to worry about on an NA car tbh. It's on turbo'd motors that you want rid of the gases as much as possible as far as I understand it.

I always though low back pressure on a turbo engine helps the turbo to spool up quicker and and loosing to much back pressure on a na engine ie bigger bore exhaust than standard makes them run lean.

Back pressure isn't needed on a turbo engine
But an n/a engine needs a bit of backpressure,
Your risking burning the valves with no back pressure on an n/a engine

just have a middle cylinder middle box fitted m8 because i had the same problem i lost back pressure with a full straight throught pipe instead of a middle box was louder but slower my 0 to 60 was slow and topspeed so the was every point of you post m8
some ppl on here are just f**k*** tw**s

2" Should be about right, back pressure or not shouldn't really be what your thinking about. You want to be thinking about the quickest way you can get the gases out, therefore the air can get in quicker through the inlet.
