Let insurance know of capacity change and any other stupid questions they have

Ammend your V5 and send it to the DVLA.

I'd do it once the engines in and running.

DVLA are tossers, sent log book off 5/6 weeks ago for engine change. Missus rung them today, they say we need a letter from a garage or proff of insurance, fair enough, but they only sent a letter yesterday to say.

At least they said we can tax it as a 1.4 then back pay the tax when the log book is sorted for the correct tax band.

IMO I wouldn't bother swapping a 1.4 to a 1.6.

for the proof, you just draft up a letter with some random garage address on it and sign it yourself - you can also fax it to someone if you ask on the phone

If the tax class is changing (which it is) then i think you will have bother sending your details off to the DVLA, you'll be much better off gonig to your local DVLA office and retaxing the car with them.

It'll be around £97 for 6 months with a 1.6 in it.

Will be about £68 with the 1.4 in it?

Take the proof etc with you, they'll sort it all out there and then.
