I have a company van which i can use for personal use (boss has giving me £50 a week fuel allowance, anything over needs to come out my pocket, but i use that easy just commuting). However, i also have my car. I want to sell my car and get something fairly quick again. Paying the insurace and tax on my car and due it first mot in July.
Been offered 4.8k for it. Now, if i trade it in i will easily get 5.5k. However, i don't have the cash to buy anything else at the minute and looking at around June next year which hopefully will give me 5k for my car and 5k saved.
Do i take the 4.8k now and bank the money or keep the car, keep paying the insurance, tax etc.
Alternativly, i get the car advertised and see where we go from there. Issue is the mileage as it's well into late 40k and a 2007 car - mileage won't go up as the car hasn't moved for 2 weeks, a graze on the bonnet and a star shaped scratch on the wing where it's been keyed. £400s worth of damage there and there's also a couple of car park dings in 2 doors which i've always wanted to have removed.
I could get the body mint again and do some tunage to make it into a sleeper or something. That would just be mental though

Whatever we decide you wont do it
Sell it for 4.8k now & bank the cash, it will just sit on your drive not getting used if you dont.

You want a Peugeot 307 sleeper?
Trade in value is almost always less than private sale value, so if you think you can get £5.5k on a trade in, why not just advertise it properly?

Mileage is going to put people off tom when you see other cars of it's age and class with 5k on.
I'll be sad to see this car go, has done me proud

But if a private buyer won't give you 5.5k for it, why would a dealer? After all, he is going to have to sell it on to the public isn't he?

They have their own body shops and can get the body mint. Car has a full Peugeot Service history which always looks good, one registered owner and the fact it's done almost 25k a year proves it's mainly motorway miles.
Then because they can do finance they knock a little off price.
Also, you then start hitting the garage for money off the car you are buying. All in all, i'll get 5.5k for that car all day long.
I took one of my mates with me to buy my Corsa, he couldn't believe how i kept hitting the sales guy for more and more, and get away with it.
